The Films of Braniff International: Art Fashion Design
An airline representing a rainbow of colors, with art, fashion and design as the central tenets of its elegant and revolutionary past and present: This is Braniff International. After many years and hours of work by the Braniff Airways Foundation Archives Department with the generosity of our friends and donors, introduces you to Braniff’s ample catalog of 8mm, 16mm, UMatic, Beta and VHS films fully digitized with clear crisp visual and audio for the first time since the films were originally produced between 1926 and 1992.
These unique films, produced in both black and white and glorious color, follow the birth of our great airline beginning as early as 1926, through its various reincarnations to the company’s last flying operations in 1992. Films produced from 1993 until present can be viewed on this website by selecting “Events” from the menu selector above on the left side of this page.
Braniff Airways Foundation’s ongoing film digitization project is expected to produce more than 1000 films for online public viewing and access for research and other institutional projects. A special grant from The Summerlee Foundation, located in Dallas, Texas, has made this unique and very special Dallas and Texas and the world project possible. Our thanks to this great organization that heralds the project to ensure that Dallas and Texas history are preserved for the future generations of Braniff fans to admire and enjoy.
